It all started just over 40 years ago.   I began to teach sailing in Salcombe, S. Devon and life has been all about boats and the sea since……

In the early days, I spent time during the winter season, whilst carrying out maintenance on the club’s fleet, in the loft with our stores manager who was also our rigger.   I kept my eyes open and asked a lot of why, how and when questions about everything around me.

Over the following years, I moved on to skippering the ICC cruisers, instructing club members whilst cruising the Western Approaches and beyond to the north coast of Spain and as far north as Norway.   In 1985 I crossed the Atlantic for the first time as “Pilot” of the replica of Sir Francis Drake’s “Golden Hinde”.   After several years at sea we ended up on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.

In 1990, whilst starting up my family, in Mallorca, I also moved ashore for a while, and set up my own rigging business.   Early on, thanks to my background of sailing “Old” yachts, I was asked more and more to work on the classic yachts and from there invited to take part in Classic Regattas which of course I did with great pleasure.   Gaining a good reputation, I sailed more frequently on some of the finest classic yachts afloat and raced them all over the Atlantic and Mediterranean circuits.

Whenever the rigging business was quiet, and there were no regattas planned, I took on deliveries of yachts all over the world and carry on doing so today.

I was called in for the full restoration of the 49’ C. Livingstone cutter, “Molita” (Renamed “Marigan”) in 2003 and have since then been involved in several major restoration projects.

Hobbies

Anything to pass the time, however doing something you never have had time for is probably the best way to pass long hours off watch when there appears that “There is nothing to do”.

Having been away at sea for many years, my exposure to the world of webs was a late arrival, I am now putting these pages together, primarily to help others and give an insight to my world.   I would be grateful if throughout these pages you notice anything of interest to you, or have any constructive comments please get in touch.   Hopefully this will guide me toward posting content of interest and also improve my computer skills and make this Web page and Blog enjoyable to whomever cares to view it.
